Stories by Children is a literary movement celebrating poems short stories, and prose written by amazing young authors, from Dominica, and the diaspora, between the ages of 4 and 16. Volume I, Family, Volume II, When I Grow Up, and Volume III, Mission Mango, each feature over 18 illustrated and artfully displayed literary works from 17 authors. Most of the proceeds from the sale of these books go towards students’ educational costs.

We oversaw the planning, branding, editing, creative direction, marketing, and publishing of the book. This book represents VERS’s interest in promoting literacy and creativity from a young age, and it is also a means to facilitate interest in the value of anecdotal history for young black children and their families. The book features narratives and imagery celebrating black families written by kids who see themselves in these characters, and this emboldens the next generation of black youth to know that their stories are meaningful and worth being shared in creative ways.
